DC-Style
The DC-Style model is a solid-body electric guitar model that was introduced in 1961. The DC-Style model has a thinner, and more contoured body than the SC-Style model, making it much lighter and more comfortable. The lighter, thinner, one-layer body means the DC-Style model, unlike the SC-Style model, is particularly applicable for harmonic feedback playing techniques (screamin/wailing) Making these guitars perfect for heavier rock/metal styles.
Despite the differences in body design, the DC-Style and SC-Style models share similar electronics and controls. The sound of the DC-style is often described as having more "bite" (midrange emphasis) than the SC-style.
Notable artist that are renowned for using DC-Style guitars are: Angus Young (AC/DC) Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers) and Frank Zappa
